Finding Inverse Matrix

Your Problem: To Find Inverse Matrix using Excel
The Solution: Use MINVERSE function
The Result:

If you have a Matrix like this one:

Find the inverse !

1. Enter the matrix data into Excel cells

2. Highlight the result cells where you want to place the resulting matrix

3. Keep highlight it then enter this formula =MINVERSE(B3:D5)

4. After you finish with “)” don’t press Enter now! You should holding down CTRL key and SHIFT key simultaneously, then press ENTER. (If you don’t do this step, you will get some error message or the result will appear only in one cell)

PROBLEM: How to count items in column (not count number)
SOLUTION: Use addition column and countif function
RESULT:

This tutorial will explain to you, how to count items in column.

1. Assume that you have these data.

2. Add one (“1″) to next column. See below !

3. I make up display, to make easier to see.

4. To count how many “phone calls” items, move cursor to cell C12 then type “=COUNTIF($C$3:$D$11,”phone calls”)” (I hide the display for easier, step3)

5. To count how many “website” items, move cursor to cell C13 then type “=COUNTIF($C$3:$D$11,”website”)“

6. To count how many “walk-ins” items, move cursor to cell C14 then type “=COUNTIF($C$3:$D$11,”walk-ins”)“

7. Hide the column D that contain the number one “1″ with change the colors to white (don’t delete it)

Change Uppercase to Title Case

PROBLEM: You need to change UPPERCASE string/text to Title Case
SOLUTION: Use PROPER function
RESULT:

FOLLOW ME TO STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

This tutorial will explain how to change your UPPERCASE text to Title Case text!

1. Type your uppercase text. For example, I type “PLEASE, CHANGE THIS TO TITLE CASE” in cell B2

2. Move your cursor to other cell (for example, I move my cursor to cell B4. See below)

3. Type this in cell B4, “=PROPER(B2)” then press Enter. B2 are the cell containing text you want to change.

4. Then you will see the result! See below:

Done !!!

Sometimes, you’re not need UPPERCASE and formula anymore after you get the Title Case text version. So you can copy ONLY the VALUE (“Please, Change This to Title Case” not “=PROPER(B2)” or uppercase version).

For this, do following steps:

1. Right-click on cell B4, then click COPY.

2. Move your cursor to other cell (for this example, I move to cell B6)

3. Right-click on this cell, then click PASTE SPECIAL…

4. Choose options to VALUES in paste options, then click OK button

Done !!! Now, you can delete other cells.

Set a Filter

PROBLEM: I need to sort data or see appropriate data
SOLUTION: Use filter tool
RESULT:

FOLLOW ME THE STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

1. Assume that you have this data (see below):

2. Select all your data including the heading title (in this case I wrote “My Column”)

3. In the Home ribbon, klik Sort & Filter component in Editing group and then click Filter (see below)

4. In “My Column” cell, you will see a small filter button (see below)

5. Click the button, then you can choose your filtering data. You can choose what data to show up and other data will be hidden or you can sort them.

NOTE: To deactivate filter function, do the step 3 again.

Assign Macro to A Button

PROBLEM: You already create macro then you need to run it with click on a button
SOLUTION: Use VBE (visual basic environment)
RESULT:

How to Assign Macro to a Button

1. Open your Excel.

2. Select Developer ribbon.

3. Click Insert component in Controls group and then click Button (see below)

4. Drag your cursor to create a button and release it. The Assign Macro window will appear (see below)

5. Click New button to create your Macro

6. You will entering a Visual Basic Editor (VBE) window and code SUB and END SUB automatically appear

7. Enter your code (for example I typed: MsgBox “Button is Clicked!!!”). This codes for showing a message box when it clicked. The message is “Button is Clicked!!!”. (See below)

8. Close your VBE window.

9. You will back to your Excel window and click to any cell to unselect the button.

10. Click your button and the message box will appear (see below)
